The Siruvapuri Murugan Temple is situated along the Chennai–Kolkata Highway, near Ponneri, in a village currently known as Chinnambedu (formerly “Siruvar Por Pori” – meaning “Children’s Battle Ground”).
This 500-year-old temple, dedicated to Lord Murugan (Sri Balasubramanyar), was built by local villagers and is located in Thiruvallur District near Chennai.
In official records, the temple’s name is listed as Chinnambedu Temple.
Among Hindu deities, Lord Murugan is one of the most adored and powerful gods, worshipped as the God of War and Protector of Dharma across South India.
📖 Sthala Puranam
According to legend, Lava and Kusa, the sons of Lord Rama, once resided in this region.
The Siruvapuri Sri Balasubramaniyar Temple is over 500 years old and is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the divine son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.
The main deity is Sri Balasubramaniyar.
